This little doll is the most precious baby!!! And her mama makes the cutest hats and bows for her.

I mean, really… does it get any cuter than this?!?!

And look at this hat! What a talented mommy you have, Miss A!

I utterly adore this one! She was looking up at her daddy. What a priceless image

It’s been too quiet around here…

If you’ve been following my blog for a while, you’ve probably noticed that it’s been WAY too quiet around here. Normally by the end of April, I’ve posted several sessions…. but not this year. I haven’t been shooting very much because I’ve been working on…. drumroll please… a new studio!! Since we’re big “do it yourself” people, I’ve spent every waking moment sanding, painting, laying tile, etc. It’s been an exhausting process, but it is nearly complete. We expect to have the grand opening sometime around mid-May.

The new studio opens up many exciting possibilities for sessions. I have some big plans in store and I can’t wait to share them with everyone. Stay tuned, more details coming soon!!!

2009 in Review…

I can’t believe another year has come and gone already! As I look back over 2009, I am truly humbled by the many families who have trusted me with their priceless memories. The beautiful places I’ve been able to go this year to photograph landscapes… I still can’t believe I’ve been so blessed. As I browsed through some of my favorite images, I decided to put together a slideshow to share.

Four years old…

This is the magic age for Ms. G’s grandchildren. When they are four years old, she commissions a custom portrait session to celebrate. It is the absolute PERFECT age for this type of session because their personalities are developed and you can see them shine through in the images. Miss M is a perfect example of this. She is all about dress up, and imagination, lipgloss, and nail polish… she even had the CUTEST stick on earrings! This session definitely brought out her inner princess

Of course, I can’t leave out Miss M’s handsome older brother. When Miss M was getting changed into her causal clothes, I broke the rules and had Mr. C stand in grandma’s flower bed! ::gasp:: I told him not to worry, that I would take the heat for breaking the rules and he gave me the sweetest smile. (Don’t worry, I told him never to do it again LOL!)

This brother and sister have the sweetest relationship. You could just see how much they love each other.

Ms. G and Ms. J, it was an absolute pleasure to photograph C and M. They were such perfect little subjects! I can’t wait to share the rest of the images from their session with you!

Not exactly what I planned, but…

Yesterday, I had intended to hike 6 miles to photograph two waterfalls. Unfortunately, the weather was FOUL! Cold, overcast, and misting rain all day. Ugh! The last thing I want is to give myself hypothermia by getting caught out in the rain in cold weather!! Plus, my children were with me – and I’m certainly not going to put them at risk! So, I had to alter my plans. I photographed the Cascades instead since they are about 300 yards from a parking lot :) There is a LOT more water coming over the falls than normal because of all the rain we’ve had…

The leaves are really putting on their fall color in that part of the state…

We made our way around the one way road to a place called “Buzzard’s Roost”. The fog and mist was THICK!!! There were times we couldn’t even see 10 feet in front of the car. I made my way down to an overlook and took this pull back image of the fog and clouds rolling up the gorge…

But this is the image I had in my mind…

Unfortunately, by the time I got the shot set up, the mist really started rolling in and I lost some of the color of the trees in the gorge. No worries, I’m going back to this area on Monday to hike to another waterfall (and the weather is supposed to be SUNNY!)

Home for a few days…

October is travel month for my family. It’s the time when we get out and vacation, visit friends, take field trips (my kids are home schooled ), and just generally relax. We’ve spent the last week in Mississippi visiting my daughter’s crib-mate, going to museums, watching crop dusters… no, seriously! We watched a crop duster working a cotton field! It was really cool!!

We’re home for a few days so I wanted to post a few snapshots from our trip. (I’ll spare you the boring museum shots )

These are “my” girls. Believe it or not, they are the same age!

The highlight of the Mississippi trip for my kids was the zip-line. Unfortunately, it RAINED and was COLD all but one day while we were there. We only got to do the zip-line once

It was really, really HIGH…

But the splash-down was AWESOME!!!

The boys LOVED it!

I’m off again in a few days to hike in and photograph two new waterfalls that were recently acquired by my favorite place on earth. I’ll have more pictures to share soon

Freshman Pictures for Miss A {Woodbury, TN Photographer}

I had the pleasure of photographing Miss A on Thursday in celebration of her freshman year of high school. She was so much fun!!! Much to her mother’s dismay, I told her repeatedly that I love her attitude. It might not be fun in day to day life, but it photographs beautifully!

They thought I had lost my mind when I stopped in the middle of the road and jumped out to take this image. I’m sure it seemed really weird at the time, but something about it captivated me, and the image came out beautifully…

As soon as I saw this one in the back of the camera, I knew it would be my favorite. Don’t you think she looks like Melissa Gilbert in her younger days? What a stunning beauty!!!

Miss A was such a sweetheart. I’m sure she will skip her way through high school, just like she did in this image…

I also took a few of her gorgeous older sisters, but sorry mama, you’ll have to wait to see those

Perfection {Woodbury, TN Newborn Photographer}

That is how I described her…perfection. I had the honor of photographing this little beauty today. She was an absolute dream! Her mama has some really awesome friends. They purchased the session for her as a baby shower gift! (I wish I had friends like that LOL!)

I just love her “baby wrinkles”

And she really liked me too. See, she even smiled

She was so good, we even did some “out of the box” images (I LOVE it when I get to do that!!!)

I bought some new baskets a few months ago. I wasn’t sure if I would ever be able to use this one or not. I knew it would take the ::perfect:: baby. She would have to be REALLY tiny to fit. Little Miss L fit like a glove!!! All whopping 5 1/2 pounds of her!!

Thank you so much for allowing me to photograph Miss L. It was an absolute pleasure!!
