REAL SIMPLE gets it right…

From REAL SIMPLE MAGAZINE’S blog:

Professional photos aren’t cheap.

However, I figure that the money I spend on these photographs will strengthen family bonds, enhance happy memories, and capture the fleeting moments of childhood. They give me more pleasure than practically any other purchases that I make. That strikes me as pretty good happiness bang for the buck.

An excellent point was brought up in the comment section. As enjoyable as looking at your images on the computer is, please, please, PLEASE print your snapshots! At the very least, print a few of your favorites each month and store them in an archival-safe album or photobox. I would be devastated if something happened to my personal photographs and I know you would too… and let’s face it, storing digital images is only as safe as the media you use to store it on and who knows how we’ll be reading those images 25, 50 or a 100 years from now. So please, take a few minutes each month and print out those snapshots!

* Thanks to my wonderful colleague Kimberly Hill of Myrtle Beach, SC for sharing this article with me. She got it from another colleague, Alpharetta, GA children’s photographer Shannon Holden. We’re all sharing the love today:-)
