There’s no place like home…

We made it back from the reunion.  How can Thursday-Sunday pass in the blink of an eye?  Honestly, it seems like we were there for less than 24 hours!  I guess it’s because we had SO MUCH FUN!  It is amazing to see how the girls grow and change every year.  I am so glad I took my studio equipment this year because it was FREEZING outside!!!!  We were able to get outside some, but for the most part, all the playtime this year was indoors!

Here are all the girls strutting their stuff in true princess style…

Didn’t we get the prettiest group of girls in all of China?

And of course, how could I not share my daughter and her crib-mate?  These two girls have a love for each other that defies explanation.

Let me introduce you to Miss E.  She was also adopted (from Liberia, not China ;) ) and is the sibling of the cutie pie in the Gap t-shirt in the first image.  Her facial expressions are absolutely irresistible!!!

Couldn’t you just eat her up?!?!?!

I’ve got to get back to work (yes, PT, I’m proofing your session!).  I’ll try to post a few more reunion photos in the coming days.

Enjoy!

Out of the office…

Our office will be closed from Thursday November 13 through Monday November 17.  We will be attending a much anticipated reunion with the group of families that traveled with us to China when we adopted our daughters!   Daughters as in the whole group…we only adopted ONE!   ;)

All calls and emails will be returned on Tuesday November 18.

Worst case of P.K.S. I’ve ever seen!!!

“Photographer’s Kid Syndrome” commonly referred to as “P.K.S”, is a dreaded disease among the children of photographers.  It tends to rear it’s ugly head most during the fall when it is time to take the ::GASP:: Christmas card photo (said in my best horror movie a’ la Vincent Price voice ).  My children have the WORST cases I’ve ever seen!

I mean, look at this… A face only a mother could love, right?

WRONG!!!  I’m the mother and I DON’T love it!!

Of course the condition was exacerbated this year because their mommy/photographer felt the need for them to dress up (::choke, gasp, sputter…:: CHURCH clothes on a weekday?) and pose together (…TOGETHER, are you serious?) in ONE photograph (LOL! you must be joking, right?).

Attempt number one…

Uhhh, guys…we want the relatives to say, “Awwwww!” when they open our card, not scare them out of ten years of life, ok?  What a bunch of goof-balls!  ::sigh::

Oh, my sweet little Peanut… ::sigh:: Can I get a side of cheeze with that?  (yes, this is cheeze with a “Z”) ::eye roll::

Let’s try something not so “looking at the camera”…

Eh, it’s cute and I like it, but I want everyone to be able to see your beautiful faces.

Ok, time for the most torturous thing a mommy/photographer can ask her children to do.  A TRADITIONAL pose…  ::faint::

Don’t even ASK how many head swaps I had to do to get that image to look like that!  Peanut is still giving the super cheeze ::double eye roll::

Ok, time to break out the big guns….”If you will all stand together and hold hands, and look at the camera, AND smile while I take this picture, I will make a batch of cow patty cookies when we’re finished.”

(Yeah, I bribed them.  What else could I do?)

SUCCESS!!!!  Don’t I have the cutest little brats you’ve ever seen?

Milk and cookies all around :)

New portrait location!

I am ALWAYS on the lookout for new places to shoot.  Always.  It is a never ending quest when you are a photographer.  I had some free time this afternoon, so I grabbed my camera and my favorite little model and went exploring.  I found the perfect spot, with the most GORGEOUS light!

So this is how it went…

Stand here and let me see how this looks.

OOOOO!!!  I like that!  Then her daddy says, “DON’T YOU SMILE AT ME!”

We see how well she minds her daddy! ;)

Oh, now THAT is cool with all the sage.  It gives the image so much depth!

Let’s move over here a bit… Oh baby, we are on to something good here!!!

SCORE!!!

So now I have a brand new location to shoot with BEAUTIFUL evening light.  And the really sad part???  It is within walking distance of my house.  How could I have missed this spot all these years?!?!?!

And for all my photographer friends, I shot these images with my brand spankin’ new 70-200 2.8 IS.  It’s a monster of a lens, but, WOW!  The bokeh is YUMMY!!!
